Because I Am an Artist

Paintings, creatures, responsive rooms, illuminated machines, and ideas that refused to remain ideas.

Identity confirmed by repeated behavior

The title was late.

“Why would you let them call you an artist?”

“I didn’t. I just did what I liked, and they called me that.”

“Then why do you do it?”

“Because I am an artist.”

This is not a career announcement, a credential, or a request for permission. It is the name for a pattern that became impossible to keep filing under “other.”

Paintings appeared. Then creatures. Then installations, environments, illuminated structures, responsive rooms, projection systems, symbols, essays, costumes, radios, and practical machines that somehow crossed the border into art while nobody was guarding it.

THE EVIDENCE: The work kept happening when nobody bought it, commissioned it, graded it, certified it, or formally authorized the identity.
EVIDENCE_WALL.DIR

Six recurring forms of evidence

Paint

Images that lock the room

Small original paintings, concentrated color, emotional weather, symbolic forms, and the condition of becoming absorbed enough that the ordinary world briefly loses jurisdiction.

Creature

The Winged Rabbit

A personal cryptid with blue eyes, wings, classical anatomy, resistance in its history, and enough persistence to become an identity before becoming a logo.

Environment

Rooms that answer back

Projection, sensing, motion, light, sound, and responsive architecture turn the participant from observer into material.

Machine

Useful objects with theatrical instincts

Art cars, radio nodes, glowing frames, sensor systems, and tools that remain functional while developing a suspicious amount of personality.

Participation

The body enters the mechanism

Festival installations and participatory works where scale, movement, consent, vulnerability, interaction, and witness become part of the composition.

Language

Ideas given a room of their own

Essays, videos, fragments, dialogue, personal archaeology, and phrases that arrive with the same insistence as a visual object waiting to be built.

Small Paintings, Dense Weather

Original miniature works built in concentrated sessions, including the “7 paintings in 7 days” experiment. Small surfaces, full-size interior pressure.

CRYPTID / IDENTITY

The Winged Rabbit

A recurring figure shaped through resistance, classical form, softness, unease, humor, and the recognition that a symbol can know its owner before the owner knows the symbol.

Projection Dome / Human Signal

A geodesic projection environment translating movement, radio disturbance, presence, density, and breath-like signals into a room-sized visual organism.

MOBILE FESTIVAL BUILD

DTF Art Car(t)

A utility vehicle given an illuminated alter ego through structure, LEDs, sound, movement, and the ancient artistic technique of making an entrance.

The Contractor

A scenario-based physical installation using construction language, framed architecture, participation, restraint, perspective, and controlled witness.

OBJECTS BECOME LOCATABLE
NETWORKS BECOME VISIBLE
SYSTEMS AS MATERIAL

The Technical Work Refuses the Border

Mesh networks, RFID presence, sensing, solar nodes, diagrams, and infrastructure become artistic material whenever function, meaning, participation, and form begin sharing a circuit.

HOW_THE_WORK_APPEARS.SYS

The recurring path from disturbance to object

01

Something catches

An image, contradiction, material, machine, phrase, or impossible room refuses to leave.

02

The idea mutates

Practical engineering, symbolism, humor, body, community, and spectacle begin exchanging parts.

03

A form is selected

Paint, code, wood, radio, projection, steel, fabric, words, or whatever can hold the pressure.

04

The object argues back

Materials, budgets, physics, weather, skill, and failure participate in the design.

05

It enters the world

Finished enough to be encountered. Unfinished enough to continue teaching its maker.

WHO_ISSUES_THE_TITLE.CSV

Rejected issuing authorities

CLAIMED AUTHORITY WHY IT SEEMS CONVINCING WHY IT DOES NOT OWN THE WORD
The market Sales are visible, countable, and socially legible. A purchase proves a transaction. It does not create the practice that made the work.
The institution Degrees, galleries, grants, and juries can confer legitimacy. They may recognize, support, or distribute art. They do not manufacture the internal necessity.
The audience Attention appears to confirm that the work matters. Work may matter before anyone notices, and may remain art while nobody is looking.
The artist Self-identification seems like the final authority. Sometimes even the maker is the last person to receive the evidence.
The work It keeps arriving, demanding form, changing the maker, and entering the world. Accepted issuing authority.
FINAL RULING: The behavior was the evidence. Market recognition was never the issuing authority.
ARTIST_STATEMENT.TXT

A statement without gallery fog

I make things where systems, identity, participation, technology, and symbol overlap. Sometimes the result is a painting. Sometimes it is a creature, a room, a machine, an illuminated structure, a piece of writing, or a network behaving theatrically.

My work often begins with pattern recognition: noticing a hidden relationship, an unspoken rule, a system nobody has made visible, or an image that seems to have arrived carrying more information than I consciously possess.

I am interested in the moment when an observer becomes a participant, when a useful object becomes a symbol, when technical infrastructure develops emotional weather, and when identity is discovered through repeated behavior rather than declared in advance.

I do not make art because I have solved what art is. I make it because some ideas remain restless until they acquire a body.

STUDIO_NOTES.LOG

Notes found under the paint water

The idea does not become legitimate when it is finished. Finishing is merely when other people become able to encounter the argument.
Nobody buying the work may be a market problem, a communication problem, a timing problem, or no problem at all. It is not an identity test.
Paint, radios, plywood, LEDs, code, wings, sensors, and sentences are not separate practices when they are carrying the same question.
Part of growing as an artist is creating enough room that someone else beginning their own strange journey can see a way in.
GALLERY_STATUS.LOG

Current identity status

[PAINT] ACTIVE: concentrated surfaces continue receiving weather.

[CREATURE] PERSISTENT: Winged Rabbit remains present and blue-eyed.

[INSTALLATION] EXPANDING: observers continue being converted into participants.

[SYSTEMS] CROSSING BORDER: technical work repeatedly develops symbolic intent.

[IDENTITY] CONFIRMED: the title has caught up with the behavior.
