Caution: ideas may become physical without warning

The Esoteric Workshop

Fabrication, electronics, radio systems, repair, prototypes, art machinery, and the noble refusal to throw away anything that might contain a useful part.

Come in. Watch the wire clippings.

This is where the Esoteric Systems ecosystem becomes physical: machines, tools, radios, prototypes, repaired objects, festival hardware, and technologies that wandered in as sketches.

The workshop is not one business category wearing a clean polo shirt. It is a fabrication lab, repair bench, electronics station, project archive, classroom, and incubation chamber for ideas that need screws.

NEW! Project dossiers below reflect real builds currently moving through the ecosystem. Some links are still sealed behind yellow construction tape.

These are not merely concepts. They are builds with parts lists, test plans, stubborn details, and at least one cable that is currently missing.

RFID_PRESENCE.PRXPROTOTYPE

Smart Inventory Presence Pilot

A tagged-tool presence system for sheds: RAIN RFID at the edge, LoRa between structures, and a searchable host that answers questions such as “Where is the miter saw?”

  • SparkFun RAIN RFID reader
  • Thinkify circular antenna
  • ESP32 / LILYGO T-Beam transport
  • Raspberry Pi host and search layer

SOLARHIVE_NODE.SYSFIELD TEST

Solar Hive Mesh Node

A solar-powered, always-on communications node designed around practical deployment, serviceability, and a weatherproof enclosure that does not look like a forgotten lunchbox.

  • US915 mesh radio platform
  • Solar charging and battery management
  • Outdoor enclosure and antenna system
  • Event and community-network roles

RESPONSIVE_DOME.ARTCONCEPT+

Responsive Dome Environment

A geodesic projection space where movement, presence, breathing, and wireless reflections become visual material flowing across the structure around its occupants.

  • Four-projector geometry
  • Human-presence sensing
  • Real-time visual interpretation
  • Festival-scale modular structure

FAB_LAB_ECOSYSTEM.BIZGROWING

Fabrication Lab Ecosystem

A local workshop built around print services, repairs, classes, limited retail, accessible prototyping, and the radical notion that technical knowledge should circulate.

  • 3D printing and repair services
  • Classes and guided fabrication
  • Electronics and prototyping bench
  • Community maker infrastructure

Ideas that survived by not being built

Some projects fail on the bench. Better projects occasionally fail during research, before they acquire permits, pressure vessels, or a hearing-conservation administrator.

COSMIC_BOOMINATOR.BADRETIRED

Cosmic Boominator

A dual-voice, upward-firing pneumatic boom concept intended to combine two differently sized reports into one gloriously overqualified skyward punctuation mark.

  • Two acoustic voices, fired nearly simultaneously
  • Designed for broader perceived boom character
  • Love Burn public deployment considered
  • Retired when hearing protection proved operationally impossible

[2026.07.27] SITE: Opened a dedicated workshop wing inside the digital garden. Nothing caught fire during deployment.

[2026.07] RFID: Selected documented hardware over maximum theoretical range. Reliability and support win another round.

[2026.07] MESH: Continuing experiments in solar-powered event and community communications nodes.

[2026.07] ART: Dome projection system remains in the dangerous phase where the concept is plausible enough to become expensive.

[ONGOING] REPAIR: Refusing to accept “replace the whole thing” until the whole thing has been properly insulted with a multimeter.

Notes taped above the bench

Repair before replacement.

Not every object deserves resurrection, but every failure deserves an honest diagnosis.

Document the weird part.

The obvious step will be remembered. The tiny jumper setting absolutely will not.

Build for the field.

A prototype is not finished when it works on the bench. It is finished when another human can use it outside.

Return useful knowledge.

Tools, methods, and discoveries grow stronger when they can circulate beyond one project.
